VI. Tableaux on Exploits of Krishna
Aims and objectives of the Museum as its name suggest is to present and preserve all that is pertaining to Krishna. Mahabharata, the epic poem is an important subject for narrating the life and exploits of Krishna. He is the pivotal figure in the Mahabharata and the whole story revolves around him only. Therefore, without highlighting the episodes of the Mahabharata the exhibition of Krishna museum would have been incomplete. In view of this the museum was looking for a beautiful collection of works of art on the episodes of Mahabharata. Incidentally, the Mahabharata Utsav-2002, celebrated at Kurukshetra on the occasion of annual Gita Jayanti Festival enabled the museum to acquire these wonderful collections of painting executed in different styles on Mahabharata for their display in this gallery.

The most attractive and popular display of exhibits are the colourful tableaux of Srikrishna museum depicting the stories of Krishna from the Bhagavata and the Mahabharata. Recently the museum has introduced sound arrangement to create an ambience of the event depicted in the tableau whereby the audience while viewing the tableaux can experience the virtual story. A sensor for each tableau is synchronized in such a way as the audience or the visitor comes in front of it the sound and light gets activated and audience while seeing the episode enjoys the sound as well as the narration of the story depicted therein. Each of the episodes is about five to eight minutes and are available both in Hindi and English.
The episodes pertaining to Birth of Lord Krishna is shown with Vasudeva carrying baby Krishna in a basket on his head and crossing the river Yamuna in the turbulent rainy night The scene of Krishna upholding the mount Govardhana is depicted with Krishna flanked on the either sides by gopis and cows standing under the canopy of mount Govardhana that Krishna lifted the entire episode is narrated by way of commentaries and dialogue with background music of thunder and rain.
The episode of Krishna subduing serpent Kaliya, the episode depicting Raslila in which Radha-Krishna in the center and Krishna with gopis in the circle is highlighted with a commentary on the the basic concept of rasa which the cosmic movement of body and soul. The gopis shown in the rasa are the manifestation of body and Krishna is their soul. One of the important episodes of Bhagavata Purana is the episode of Kamsavadha or the annihilation of Kamsa, Here Krishna Balarama encountering with two wrestlers called Chanura & Musthika in the wrestling tournament arranged by Kamsa. Krishna the episode of Krishna’s reunion with gopis on a solar eclipse at Kurukshetra several years before the commencement of the Mahabharata battle, to have the sacred dip in the Brahmasar is yet another important episode that draws attention of the visitors.
However the most delightful and thought provoking episode is the Bhagavadgita episode of the Mahabharata. The vast sea of soldiers from either side was about to strike each other as if two mighty tidal waves expecting to thrash to break their shores. The whole battle field becoming so dusty like a desert storm creating havoc. The noise of the war cries and blowing of conches, beating of war drums, noise of the elephants and horses are horrifying. It was no small a battle, it was the Mahabharata. Amidst this horrified moments the land would witness the battle of righteousness at this moment Bhagavad-Gita, the song celestial was born and has been immortalized in this land over the years.
